The Nelson Lakes – where mountains meet water, with woodland walks, waterfalls and wonderful hilltop views!
Just one a half hours delightful drive south west of Nelson on State Highways 6 and 63, Lake Rotoriti makes a worthwhile day trip, especially if you like your walking. Either tramp through lovely shaded woodland either side of the lake, one side has the tumbling Whisky Falls, or get up on some of the lower tracks around Mount Arthur.
Of course in winter there’s the Rainbow Ski Field too, or why not call into the TopHouse Historic Guesthouse for drinks at NZs smallest pub, or high tea in the Cafe en route?
You can also divert off to The Hidden Cafe en route, with its eclectic Sculpture Garden.
