2001 BMW 330ci Convertible

Drive this stylishly smooth operator

This seriously stylish cabrio offers luxury comfortable cruising whilst also rewarding the sporting driver with a very willing engine and responsive, tenacious rear wheel drive handling. Offering cossetted seating for four, a smooth strong 3.0 litre straight six, and the special touches the Germans are renowned for, with the interior, electrically powered leather seats and fabric roof all in superb condition. A really elegant value proposition for touring our amazing roads and scenery.

Smooth running all the way with enough involvement to make it engaging for anyone who enjoys some corners. Rear wheel drive gives confident handling in the corners, and the straight six 3.0 litre engine is a European legend for it’s refined yet torquey delivery. If you want a leisurely lazy cruise in automatic it will happily oblige, and likewise if you want some driving involvement going up and down the manual tiptronic gear shifter. 

The rare Sienna Red wine colour contrasted with the tan leather seats, set off by chrome makes a very pleasing standout from your average white or grey hatchback bland-mobile hire car – and this one will be very easy to find in the car park. The fully electric fabric roof with it’s thick insulating lining doesn’t take up very much of the generous boot at all when lowered, and there’s a button to operate all four windows simultaneously to create a wonderful pillarless airy coupe effect.  

It might be an older car, but prestige BMW models like this come with multiple airbags, traction control and ABS as standard. German engineering provides re-assuring reliability, and all our cars have to pass 6 monthly Certificate of Fitness tests to ensure they’re safe and proper for New Zealand roads.

A relatively low mileage model for its age, all aspects of the interior are in superb, fully functioning condition. Whilst there are a few signs of minor cosmetic wear on the exterior, this is a superbly presented truly different from your ordinary rental.

A surprisingly large boot is available, even with the roof down, plus if just two travelling you have the rear seats to store additional luggage on. Please refer to the Seating & Luggage tab above for exact dimensions, but to be safe we recommend you leave hard shell large suitcases at home and pack multiple soft bags.

It’s certainly no slouch with 0 – 100km/h coming up in just over 8 seconds if you need it….but effortless cruising is much more satisfying.

Launched on the last month of the last millennium, the E46 convertible sold over a quarter of a million models over a 7 year period. It was considered the best drivers convertible in its class by some margin, and was an early Chris Bangle design-influenced car before the flames surfaced.
